The Sheds

The Sheds are quickly popping up all around Australia, with one likely to be found close to you.

The Sheds (typically known as Men's Sheds) function is to provide a safe, welcoming and encouraging space for all people, including women, to work on their projects, learn new skills and develop valuable friendships. Meet other new people and use your skills or learn new ones in a friendly supportive environment. Below is some information on a few located within the City of Salisbury:

  • The Woodworkers Shed Northern Districts SA Located at Lawrie Ave, Salisbury North (across from Salisbury Swimming Centre), this Shed recently celebrated their 20 years of service and is looking for new members to join their friendly team! They do fantastic work by making wooden toys for local charities, such as Lions Clubs, to distribute to disadvantaged children. Enquires to the Secretary on 0422 891 917.
  • The Shed This shed, previously located at Peter Badcoe VC Complex Edinburgh has moved to the Pooraka Farm Men’s Shed (located at 39 Scott St, Pooraka – at the back of the Memorial Hall). The Shed and NDIS Program will run each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Enquiries to Craig on 0412 457 233 or 8406 8225 or email has@salisbury.sa.gov.au

  • Pooraka Farm Men’s shed (located at 39 Scott St, Pooraka - at the back of the Memorial Hall) is run by the Pooraka Farm Community Centre.

  • Men's Shed Parafield Incorporated (171 Anderson Drive, Parafield Airport)
    Open Tuesday and Thursdays 9am to 1pm.

    The shed has a woodwork focus, building children's play equipment and toys along with other projects for community groups and individuals. Our primary purpose is to provide a friendly space for blokes with a range of abilities to socially connect and produce meaningful products while improving their mental and physical health.
    Costs: $30 joining fee, $5 daily visit fee

  • XMRC Ex-Military Rehabilitation Centre Buildings (186 & 200 Contractors Rd -off Taranaki Dr, Edinburgh Parks). Workshops are provided for carpentry, computing, arts and crafts. Enquires: 8252 0500
