The Local Government Act 1999 and other Acts provide power for Council to make by-laws for licensing, prohibiting, regulating and controlling specific activities within its area.

Delegations provide streamlined decision-making processes for faster determination of issues.

Fees and charges can be updated throughout the financial year and therefore should be reviewed periodically.

Gifts and Benefits Register for elected members and council employees

Elected Members are required to disclose their interests by completing a primary return after being elected and an ordinary return every year thereafter. The information submitted in the primary and ordinary returns is required to be entered into a ‘Register of Interests’.

Allowances, reimbursements, facilities and support are provided to Elected Members to enable them to effectively perform or discharge official functions and duties.

Register of salaries

Elected Members must complete mandatory training, including Local Government Association standards. Non-compliance can lead to suspension unless valid reasons are provided.
