Our Big Backyard

Our Big Backyard (OBBY) is a project and tool that helps people to explore nature in their local area. It connects people with special local natural places that make their community unique whilst building community relationships.

The Little Para OBBY project aims to make local natural spaces more accessible by offering a range of engaging and free outdoor activities for families to enjoy. This project has been a partnership between Riverdale Primary School, Riverview Preschool, Communities for Children Salisbury, Morella Community Centre, Green Adelaide and the City of Salisbury.

You can download a map of the local area identifying three natural spaces to explore including;

  • The Boardwalk at Paralowie
  • Little Para River
  • Salisbury Downs
  • Woodfield Drive Reserve, Salisbury Downs.
  • Also available for download is a checklist of 40 thing to do along the Little Para and in local reserves that are fun, free and outdoors as well as four nature adventure sheets with activities and ideas to do at each location including Kaurna knowledge.
