Cultural Programs
We support a number of social groups that support older people with maintaining social connections and receive information in their own language. These activities help older people from diverse cultures to maintain their independence and continue to be active in the community.
Social support and community care groups
These groups offer activities such as social gatherings, meals, information sessions, physical activities, active learning and assistance and referrals to help find appropriate care.
- Aboriginal seniors group
- Bosnian seniors group
- Vietnamese seniors group
- South East Asian background seniors group – eg Filipinos
- Italian seniors group – friends of Italians welcome too
- Bhutanese seniors group – Nepalese and Indian welcome too
- Intercultural seniors group - a chance for different cultures to meet together
Transport is available for eligible applicants.

How to apply
Speak to our friendly staff or volunteers at the Jack Young Centre, Para Hills Centre, Pine Lakes Centre or Home Assist Office and they can direct you to the specific cultural program co-ordinator. For further information about the Cultural Social Groups please contact 8406 8225.
