Activities Arts Culture Create Place Public Art

Create a Place - Public Art Project

Promoting South Australian artists within our Salisbury region.

Create a Place is an exciting project to increase our awareness of public art within our community.

Artists and venues come together to create a space that adds colour and liveliness to our region through the use of paintings and mosaics.

Once registered through an expression of interest application for both venues and artists, a small public art panel will match venues with artists that best reflects the needs of the spaces.

Artists will be provided with an artist brief specific to the site chosen and final drawings will need to be submitted for final approval.

So far we have had several successful ‘Create a Place’ spaces around our region and we want to continue to grow our public art projects.

Expression of Interest

We are currently looking for expressions of interest from artists for the locations below:

St Kilda Adventure Playground, St Kilda - Artist Brief St Kilda Adventure Playground
We are encouraging artists to be artistic and creative in a way that will add to the communities over all experience whilst visiting St Kilda. As this is an iconic playground, we are asking artists to take into consideration the demographic users of the area and ask that their concepts include a form of an interactive ‘Instagram Wall’. We want so see original designs capturing colour and vibrancy to make, users of the area to stop and think wow, that’s amazing.

Denison Centre, Mawson Lakes - Artist Brief Denison Centre
We would like to encourage artist to consider a Japanese inspired design that wraps around the two sides of the building and is appealing from the many view points within Mobara park. We want so see original designs capturing colour and vibrancy to make users of the area to stop and think wow, that’s amazing. Your design will need to incorporate the current red colour of the building and flow around centre signage.

Expressions of interest can be sent to and close Wednesday 27 January 2022 at 9am (ACDT).

If you have a location or venue that would make a great 'blank canvas' please click here for a 'Venue Expression of Interest' application. Examples of previous locations have included rainwater tanks, large brick walls and underpasses.
