St Kilda mangroves report released

A scientific report into the St Kilda mangroves has been released by the State Government Department of Environment and Water (DEW).

The Dry Creek salt fields vegetation impact mapping report includes the results of comprehensive mapping conducted by DEW earlier this year after a decline in the health of the mangroves was reported during 2020.

A number of key findings are available for viewing within the summary report and the full report is also available to download on the DEW website HERE.

Council has an ongoing strategy of environmental sustainability and the continued preservation of the St Kilda mangroves and surrounding area is critical.

As the mangroves are under the care of the State Government, Council will continue to advocate on behalf of our community for the preservation of the St Kilda coastline and its associated ecosystems.
