New Burton Community Hub to Feature Innovative Library
A redeveloped Burton Community Hub will feature a contemporary and technologically advanced library, as well as flexible spaces for programs and events, meeting rooms and learning areas.
Planning is underway for the new facility on Waterloo Corner Road which will offer a range of cultural, learning and recreational activities for the whole community to enjoy.
The Burton Community Hub will provide quiet spaces to study or settle with a book, as well as digitally sophisticated meeting areas to appeal to local community groups and businesses looking to host workshops or other events, with a range of community and commercial hire spaces available.
A key element of the project is the relocation of services currently offered at Salisbury West Library to the new Burton Community Hub for which construction is scheduled to begin next year.
Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM said the Burton site was chosen as a preferred location for the development due to a number of factors.
The Burton Community Hub represents a strong investment and commitment towards improving community programs and library services and other learning and recreational opportunities to benefit our growing community.
The site is generous in size with adequate car parking available, is close to public transport and other key locations including the Springbank Shopping Centre, a number of local schools, community clubs and green sporting and recreational spaces including the Kaurna Park Wetlands trail.
In line with Council’s existing Para Hills and Salisbury Community Hubs, the Burton Community Hub has been designed flexibly with the community in mind and will encompass feedback from residents which was received within the consultation period earlier this year.
