Neighbour Day
Neighbour Day – an opportunity to strengthen connections in your community
Neighbours Every Day is Australia’s national campaign to celebrate and connect community with the aim to bring people together across their streets and neighbourhoods and help address loneliness across our communities.
In recent years, the City of Salisbury has supported residents to strengthen their connections with their next-door neighbours and across their communities in a variety of ways. This year the theme for Neighbour Day is 'Create Belonging/ Share Belonging'.
This year Neighbour Day takes place on Sunday 31 March and provides the perfect opportunity for people to increase social connections in their neighbourhood.
If you have an idea to strengthen your connection to your neighbours and/or connect with those new to your neighbourhood, chat to our team and see how we may be able to assist to make it happen.
It can be as easy as:
- Saying hello to your Neighbours
- Having a BBQ, picnic or shared meal
- Catching up at a local café for a cuppa
- Delivering care packages
- Create a neighbourhood network for dog walking, shared library of DIY and garden tools, camping or sports equipment, carpooling etc
- Sharing excess fruit, vegies and herbs from your garden
How can we help?
The City of Salisbury’s Neighbourhood Development team can help you organise a Neighbours Every Day gathering by providing information on how to book public spaces, help with promotion materials/printing and may also help with a some out of pocket expenses.
Unable to host something on the day? Any day can be Neighbour Day!
