National Volunteer Week 2025

Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2025

'Connecting Communities' | 19 to 25 May 2025

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering—and here in the City of Salisbury, we are proud to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and heart to strengthen our community.

The 2025 theme, Connecting Communities, highlights the vital role volunteers play in bringing people together, supporting those in need, and building a more inclusive, compassionate and vibrant Salisbury.

Thank you to all volunteers

Whether you volunteer directly with Council or give your time within the wider community, we thank you. Your commitment truly makes a difference.

Our volunteers are at the heart of so many services, from libraries and seniors centres to community events and support programs. And beyond their contributions to others, volunteering is also a win-win. It offers connection, purpose, and a boost to personal well being.

By the numbers

During the last financial year, the impact of volunteering in the City of Salisbury was immense:

  • 310 volunteers contributed

  • 43,807.5 hours of service

  • an estimated value of $2.17 million to the community (Volunteering SA&NT)

  • 45% of volunteers were born overseas

  • 44 languages spoken

  • top motivations include helping the community, meeting people, sharing skills and gaining experience

  • our longest-serving volunteer has dedicated an incredible 29 years of service

These numbers reflect the power of people coming together—and the strength of Salisbury’s spirit.

What do our volunteers say about us?

I feel that I am making a difference not only for my work place but for my whole Community and not to mention for myself too. It feels wonderful doing something for others who appreciate your contribution.
