Salisbury Author Series Web banner FINAL NAGI

Special event with Nagi from RecipeTin Eats

The City of Salisbury will be welcoming culinary internet sensation and award winning author, Nagi Maehashi, to South Australia for a very special event at the Salisbury Community Hub on Thursday 7 March.

Since 2014, Nagi Maehashi and her now celebrity dog, Chief Taste Tester, Dozer, have won the hearts of millions online with her simple mission of taking the intimidation and cost out of delectable home cooking.

As the voice, cook, photographer and videographer of the incredibly popular website, RecipeTin Eats, and author of recipe book, Dinner, Nagi has inspired millions to change their perception on the effort it takes to make good food, and how to stay nourished on a tight budget. She inspires and teaches through her website, which she says reflects her philosophy on food and cooking, ‘fast, creative, clever and fresh’. ‘I can’t wait to visit Adelaide and the City of Salisbury Community Hub. South Australia has an amazing local food scene, which I've been keen to explore. I'm really looking forward to meeting the locals and cooking up something special for RecipeTin Eats readers. Everyone is welcome to bring their DINNER book, or buy one on-site for me to sign!’ said Nagi.

Nagi also founded a not -for-profit organisation, RecipeTin Meals, in 2021, which provides more than 100,000 meals to vulnerable people annually. In theme with this, Nagi has opted for all the ticket proceeds of this event to be donated to Fred’s Van Meal Service provided by the St Vincent De Paul Society. Fred’s Van operate across a range of locations, including Salisbury every Sunday.

Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM will be in attendance, and has expressed her excitement for the evening.

I’m so looking forward to hosting Nagi at the Salisbury Community Hub for this fantastic initiative. Her dedication to making sure everybody can eat well, regardless of experience or wealth, is something to admire.

There are many people within our community feeling the pressures of the cost of living right now. Recipes help our community to improve their literacy and non-profits like hers support vulnerable people, who deserve to eat as well as anybody else.

Proudly hosted by City of Salisbury as part of the larger Salisbury Author Series program, the event will feature a cooking demonstration by Nagi, where attendees can witness the master at work, discussing her book and passion for food. The debut cookbook, DINNER, won the Australia Book Industry Awards Book of the Year, was the biggest selling title in Australia in 2023, and will be available for purchase at the book signing after the demonstration.

The Salisbury Author Series is set to bring together community members who share mutual interests in author talks that celebrate different genres, locations and themes.
