Scope of work
The carpark renewal works will involve upgrading the existing rubble surface with a new asphalt seal across the entire carpark area. This new surface will provide a smoother, more even finish that improves pedestrian accessibility, enhances vehicle traction, and reduces trip hazards.
In addition to improving safety, the asphalt surface will help minimise mud during wet weather and reduce airborne dust in dry conditions.
Kerb and gutter along with stormwater drainage infrastructure, will also be installed to improve stormwater management and minimise puddling.
Parking spaces will be formalised with line marking, including the provision of dedicated accessible parking spaces located near the main footbridge.
Public lighting will be installed as part of the works to enhance safety for both pedestrians and vehicles, particularly during community events that continue into the evening.
The carpark renewal works are anticipated to take approximately 14 weeks in total to complete. Construction works will be split into two stages with limited parking being maintained in the northern carpark during construction, for the community. Please refer below for construction staging maps.
Stage 1
Stage 2
VMS boards will be installed along Main North Road to provide advance notice to the community mid-next week with site establishment to commence from Tuesday 10 June 2025.
The upper Southern carpark adjacent Newspot Motors will remain fully available. Additionally, the community are encouraged to utilise the recently renewed carpark at Harry Bowey Reserve, only a short walk from Carisbrooke Park.
