Carisbrooke Park becomes a more accessible and inclusive space for all
Carisbrooke Park is undergoing major upgrades to ensure it is a safe, welcoming and accessible space for everyone in our community.
A new purpose-built Changing Places facility has just been completed, offering people with profound disabilities access to toilets with additional space, specialised equipment, and a safe, dignified environment for both users and their carers. Access to the facility is via a Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK), which helps keep it secure and available to those who need it most.
Works to improve the northern carpark are now underway. The area is being resealed with asphalt and will include new line markings, including accessible parking near the main footbridge. New public lighting will also be installed to improve visibility and safety at night.
To enhance connectivity, a new asphalt footpath will link the carpark to the Changing Places facility, making it easier for everyone to move around the park.
The carpark upgrades are expected to be completed in September.
These upgrades reflect the City of Salisbury’s commitment to creating safe, inclusive and innovative public spaces where everyone can feel welcome.
