Offering

Twelve25's youth employment program will offer young people access to subsidised certificates and qualifications, including;

  • Pool lifeguard (Nationally accredited)
  • DHS Working with Children Clearance
  • Barista (Nationally accredited)
  • White Card
  • First aid
  • Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol

Eligibility

  • Must have a connection to the City of Salisbury (Live or study)
  • Aged 14 to 25

Assessment and course delivery

No experience or prior learning required

This course covers a range of topics including serving alcohol, your responsibilities, laws and legislation surrounding alcohol &assisting customers who have consumed alcohol.

Suitable for those seeking a role that involves the sale/supply of alcohol.

Eligibility

  • Age: 17 to 25 years
  • Have a connection to the City of Salisbury

The City of Salisbury is proud to provide funding for this qualification. The subsidised cost is $30 for eligible young people.

Training provider: HITsa

    • sell or serve alcohol responsibly
    • assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
    • assess alcohol affected customers and identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused
    • refuse to provide alcohol where appropriate

Your RSA certificate does not expire once obtained.

The City of Salisbury is proud to provide funding for this qualification. The subsidised cost is $27.50 for eligible young people.

Training provider: Royal Life Saving SA

  • 1-day face-to-face training
  • HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 - Provide first aid
  • Candidates must also be able to perform CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
  • You must have a Unique Student Identifier number (USI). Create a free USI number.

This course will provide you with the ability to recognise basic signs and symptoms of various illnesses or injuries and the knowledge and skills – through a range of practice scenarios - to provide appropriate treatment or assistance.

A first aid training course and Statement of Attainment (HLTAID0011 Provide first aid, HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support) is considered a prerequisite for employment across many industries and considered a mandatory requirement by the Aquatic and Recreation Industry in particular.

The Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard certificate is recognised throughout Australia and in many countries around the world. This certificate is an entry-level professional qualification that can lead to an exciting career in the aquatic and recreation industry. The course offers expert professional training, and leads to a nationally accredited skill set 'SISSS00111 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set.'

You will receive:

  • Royal Life Saving Society - Australian Pool Lifeguard Certificate (valid for 12 months)

Statement of attainments for Units of Competency from the SIS10 National Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package:

  • HLTAID001 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid* (Credit Transfer)
  • PUAEME001 Provide emergency care
  • PUAEME003 Administer oxygen in an emergency situation
  • SISCAQU002 Perform basic water rescues
  • SISCAQU006 Supervise clients in aquatic locations
  • SISCAQU007 Perform advanced water rescues

Course details

To be eligible you must be the age of 16 or over at the time of undertaking the course.

You must attend all three training dates from 9am to 5pm.

Physical fitness and strength

Participants will require a medium to high level of aquatic fitness in order to successfully complete the following practical components:

  • Deep Water Retrieval Test – ability to retrieve an object from the deepest water within the aquatic environment
  • Lift Test – ability to lift a swimmer out of the water (using appropriate manual handling procedures)
  • Rescue Test – 25 metre swim / 25 metre non-contact tow in less than 1 minute and 45 seconds
  • Fitness Test – 200 metre swim in less than 6 minutes (using any stroke)

  • SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety (pre-requisite unit)
  • SITHFAB005 – Prepare and serve espresso coffee

This is a hands-on barista course that will provide you with the skills to make great tasting coffee using a commercial espresso machine.

Learn how to make a variety of espresso coffees including cappuccinos, macchiatos, long blacks, café lattes and more.

The barista course also includes food safety, coffee making organisation, espresso equipment & operations and how to clean & maintain coffee equipment.

  • 25% subsidies (no Health Care Card/ Centrelink Card): $217.50
  • 75% subsidies (hold a Health Care Card/ Centrelink Card) : $72.50

For young people not living in City of Salisbury - they can still apply but don’t get the subsidy

  • Full price (Non City of Salisbury residents): $290

  • Assessment is theory and oral with classroom interaction and also includes a construction site audit.
  • One day face-to-face in small groups
  • Cost includes learning materials, assessment materials (theory & practical) and issue of the statement of attainment and white card. Tea, coffee and water are provided.

Under WHS legislation, workers on construction sites in Australia must undertake general induction or “white card training” and carry evidence when working on a construction site. This training provides participants with a common understanding of WHS principles and practices used on generic building, construction and civil sites. On successful completion participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and a wallet size plastic white photographic ID Card.
