Parks Jenkins Reserve 01

Jenkins Reserve

Address
Type

Close to the city centre and other recreational reserves along the Little Para River, Jenkins Reserve offers a fully enclosed dog-friendly play park in which your dog may run free and unrestrained. Dogs will love exploring the smells and playing on the jumps, steps, tunnels, slippery dip and drinking trough with pergola. Shaded seating is provided for dog owners.

Originally the ground of Fenden Grove the land was once an extensive orange grove and vineyard, named after the pioneering Jenkins Family.

A walking bridge across the river gives access from both sides of the reserve while a quick trip down the Little Para Walking Trail will lead to the Harry Bowey reserve. Here you will find playgrounds, sporting activities and barbeque needs.

Those using wheelchairs have some unassisted access but it can be very awkward in parts.

The gates to the car park are closed at sunset.

Single use dog park trial

We are exploring the possibility of single use dog parks across the City of Salisbury.

From April to September 2025, the small dog park at Jenkins Reserve will be available for single use between 2pm to 6pm every day.

Single use dog parks provide dog owners with a place to safely exercise their dog without any other dogs around. This could be for a range of reasons, including if the dog is recovering from injury, timid in nature, being trained, or is nervous, aggressive or reactive to other dogs. This could also be helpful for owners who may be fearful of other dogs.

Single use dog park users

  • You don’t need a booking to access the single use dog park and anyone is welcome.
  • The single use park can be used by an owner (and family or friends) with one or more dogs at one time.
  • Please be courteous of other park users and if others are waiting, please keep your visit to a maximum of 20 minutes.
  • You may invite other dogs into the area at your own discretion.
  • Please do not enter the single use dog park until the other owner and their dog/s have left.
  • Do not leave your dog/s unsupervised and please pick up after your dog to ensure the area is ready for others to use.

Existing small dog park users

The small dog park at Jenkins Reserve will be available for single use only from 2pm to 6pm every day between April to September 2025. If you usually use the small dog park area, you are welcome to use the general dog park area during this time.

If you are looking for an alternative small dog park within the city, there are plenty of options including:
