National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
Now in its 22nd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
This year the Salisbury Library Service will be screening the event on our outdoor Big Screen and hosting a special Giggletime session full of songs, stories and games for children and their parents to enjoy. Every attending child will receive a small gift bag.
When: 10 am (streaming 10.30 am) Wednesday 25 May 2022
Where: Civic Square, Salisbury Community Hub, 34 Church Street, Salisbury.
The event is FREE!
The family tree is a sweet book written by Australian singer and songwriter Josh Pyke. The beautiful illustrations were completed by Ronojoy Ghosh.
