The Mangrove Trail has reopened with conditions, following repairs. The first 300m of the trail is open and accessible to the public. The last 200m section of the trail to the lookout is currently closed.

Watershed Creative Prize – 2023 Winners Announced

Activities Arts 2021 Watershed Creative Art Prize Logo

The City of Salisbury’s art competition, the Watershed Creative Prize, once again saw stunning artwork submissions in traditional and alternative mediums that embraced the theme of sustainability.

This annual event sees artists from all walks of life provided with the opportunity to present their creative submissions to the competition’s selected judges to compete for cash prizes and have their art displayed at the John Harvey Community Hall, Salisbury Community Hub.

First prize winners picked up a $2000 prize each with runners-up and youth artists being awarded $1000 and $500 prizes respectively. A special Mayor’s Choice award of $100 was also given.

First Prize: River of Life | Artist: Dawn Anderson

Dawn’s large and exquisitely detailed painting depicts a beautiful live-flowing stream over the rocks of a riverbed. It emphasizes water as the key to life on earth and urges us to treasure this precious resource.

First Prize: 'I’d like to be… the Octopus’ | Artist: Rachel Scholich

After watching “My Octopus Teacher,” touched by the connection of the filmmaker to the marine creature, Rachel came upon a unique piece of driftwood whilst exploring Stokes Bay in Kangaroo Island. This spurred her stunningly realistic 3D rendition of an octopus out of sticks and shells.
