Homelessness Strategy

Homelessness Strategy Web Hero.jpg

Homelessness is a complex and challenging issue and the effects can be devastating for those at risk of becoming homeless or currently experiencing homelessness.  Homelessness affects a broad range of people in our community and requires a collaborative, integrated and empathetic approach to ensure that services and supports are in place to assist people experiencing, or at risk of becoming homeless.

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 increased the risk of homelessness for many people, the Salisbury Homelessness Strategy was developed in response to the increasing numbers of people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in the region.

The strategic priorities of the Salisbury Homelessness Strategy are

  1. Prevention and early intervention responses to reduce homelessness
  2. Engagement and outreach to people experiencing homelessness
  3. Provision of affordable and low cost housing
  4. Inclusive public realm
  5. Regional collaboration and service
  6. Evidence based advocacy
