From Monday 29 June, restrictions have been eased at our community centres to allow for a more flexible approach to using our services. In line with stage three of the State Government’s roadmap for recovery from COVID-19, the following will apply at all City of Salisbury library and community centre sites;

  • You are permitted to bring your own food and drink in
  • Physical distancing of 1.5 metres and hygiene protocols will continue to be enforced
  • Please keep the above in mind when visiting and contact (08) 8280 8843 if you have any questions.

 


Located in the heart of Burton next to Springbank Plaza Shopping Centre the Burton Community Centre has been a vital part of the community since it opened in 1990. It is a local community centre that provides space for local residents to come together, learn, engage and participate in community building activities.

 They provide:

  • Community education
  • English language courses
  • Craft and hobby groups
  • Employment training
  • Fitness and leisure programs
  • Personal development
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Hall and venue hire

The air-conditioned hall comfortably accommodates approximately 90 people with all kitchen facilities and outdoor areas included with hires. There are also several other rooms available for hire on request such as Meeting Rooms 1,2 & 3 and a Computer Room.

Term 3 Programs

Bionic / 3D Printing/ Robotics Career Preparation Workshops

Commencing Thursday 6 August 2020

10am - 12pm

Age: 16 - 25 years

Cost: $40 per student  (includes all materials)

COME and TRY at our free session on Thursday 30 July

A four week program where you can learn more about Bionics, 3D printing or robotics. Each program aims to assist participants develop the skills and self-confidence to progress to other learning and/or employment pathways.

This program is designed to link and connect our community, young and old, through a fortnightly gathering for morning tea. Enjoy good conversation about almost anything that is on your mind. Learn about your community and what’s happening, events and activities you can join, establish some new friendships and much more. All ages welcome.

Digital Literacy Class

Commencing Monday 20 July

1pm to 2pm

Burton Community Centre

Cost: FREE

Come to the Burton Community Centre where a qualified volunteer will offer an array of support to those wanting to understand more about using computers. You will be assisted with one on one questions as well some useful computer tips and tricks. No matter your experience level, this class can get you started and help you embrace the world of digital literacy. For absolute beginners or for those with just a few ‘how to’ questions, come along and join the class for an hour of learning.

Tax Help

Commencing 21 July - 27 October, 2020

DO YOU NEED SOME ASSISTANCE TO LODGE YOUR INFORMATION?

The tax help program is a service provided by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) designed to help with your tax return, free of charge.

Tax help is a community of volunteers who provide expertise and advice for those trying to complete their tax returns themselves. The volunteers don’t actually work for the ATO, but are given full training and support.

Tax Help is designed especially to help people on low incomes.
