Future leaders embrace Management Challenge

And that’s a wrap! A team of six driven staff members represented City of Salisbury at yesterday’s Local Government Professionals SA 2021 Management Challenge.

The day followed months of preparation, with the team embracing the opportunity to learn new management skills across a range of local government areas from report writing to risk management to presentations.

The Team consisted of members with a range of backgrounds resulting in a complementary pool of skills. Members included Chris Carrey (Senior Development Officer Planning), Paige Hetherington (Library Officer), Shane McIntyre (Leading Worker Turf & Irrigation Maintenance), Stewart Tremain (Project Manager – Strategic Development), Erica Visser (Media Relations Advisor) and Jordan Ward (Graduate Civil & Transport Engineer). It was assisted by mentors and past challenge participants Simon Bartosak (Team Leader Civil Maintenance) and Myfanwy Mogford (Diversity & Inclusion Project Officer).

City of Salisbury General Manager City Infrastructure and this year’s executive sponsor, John Devine, said the challenge was a unique opportunity to develop organisational leaders, boost staff skills and enhance networks both within Council and the broader local government sector.

“Upon seeing the Team working together yesterday, it was evident just how much their hard work over recent months had paid off and that a strong sense of team spirit had been fostered,” he said.

The Team, named Captain CoS, looks forward to finding out the result at the upcoming 20th Annual Leadership Excellence Gala Awards Dinner.

Congratulations to all teams for their incredible efforts yesterday!
