Are you still open?

The Salisbury Community Hub will remain open to the public for essential services.

I’m visiting the Salisbury Community Hub today, what do I need to do to protect myself and others?

If you need to visit our Customer Service Centre or access other services located at the Salisbury Community Hub please be aware we have implemented social distancing practices.

We are limiting the number of people in the building in accordance with Federal Government protocol. We have also rearranged our customer pods to ensure a distance of at least 1.5 metres per person is maintained within queues.

Please be mindful to maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and other people when in the community, bring your own hand sanitiser or wipes, and take the opportunity to wash your hands frequently.


Are there any library services available?

All library branches will be open during the weekdays and on Saturdays, however for now will be closed on Sundays and evenings. Library opening hours can be found here.

To ensure we are safe, and in line with the State Government’s Roadmap for the Easing of Restrictions, we have put some necessary restrictions in place.

Please keep the following in mind when you pay a visit to any of the libraries across the City of Salisbury:

  • A maximum of 10 people (excluding staff) will be allowed in the library at any one given time
  • Please refrain from sitting, or bringing food and drink into the library
  • Remember to frequently wash and sanitise your hands
  • A thirty minute time limit applies for computer use
  • If you touch a book or other item, please place it on the trolley rather than returning it to the shelf

Given the limitation on number of visitors, we are encouraging a ‘grab and go’ approach to minimise any waiting times to enter the library.

Can I still see a Justice of the Peace?

A Justice of the Peace (JP) service is still being provided at the Salisbury Community Hub on a limited basis - subject to the availability of our volunteer JPs.

Due to this, some regular time slots may be unable to be filled with all shifts subject to change.

We recommend you call us on 08 8406 8222 prior to your visit to confirm JP availability.

Please also note the JP services at Mawson Lakes and Para Hills have been suspended.


Can I still get childhood and adolescent scheduled vaccinations?

Immunisation clinics will only be located at the Salisbury Community Hub. All additional clinics are closed, including those at Salisbury East, Burton, Mawson Centre and Ingle Farm.

The next clinic at the Salisbury Community Hub will be on Wednesday 8 April. Under the amended schedule, clinics will take place every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 9am to 12 noon and 1.30pm to 4.30pm.


What if I can’t pay my Council rates if I am in financial hardship?

On Wednesday 1 April the Council made the decision to defer Rate Payment for those ratepayers demonstrating financial hardship due to COVID-19 so that the latest date for payment for the Fourth Quarter 2019/20 and the First Quarter 2020/21 is deferred to 1 December 2020. Fines for late payment will also be waived during this time. Please contact us on 08 8406 8222 for a confidential conversation regarding your situation.


What public areas are open?

Playgrounds, skate parks, public use barbeques and outdoor gyms have reopened. This includes the St Kilda Adventure Playground. Council has also reopened the dog parks. 

Our community may continue to use local parks and reserves, but they must adhere to the Federal Government requirements for social distancing of 1.5 metres between individuals.

Where can I access mental health resources?

A number of free resources have been made available in recognition of the mental health impact that social isolation, family and job stress and health concerns can have during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Below are some resources you may find useful during this time:

A free online mental health program has been put together by the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute to help people cope with the stress and anxiety created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Be Well Plan – created in conjunction with Flinders University’s Orama Institute – runs for 10 hours over five sessions and is available here.
