School Holiday Program

Join in the fun these school holidays with our program of activities!

Our programs will be held in line with health advice from State and Federal Governments in relation to COVID-19. Please keep the following in mind when attending our programs:

  • Social distancing principles will apply with every person required to stay at least 1.5 metres from other members of the public. However, this does not apply to people who live together, who are friends or family members, or people who regularly associate with each other.
  • Some of our programs may be capped in order to abide by State and Federal Government health advice.
  • If you or your child feel unwell and/or are displaying any of the COVID-19 symptoms, for the safety of others, please do not attend our programs.
  • Please use the hand sanitiser provided at the entry and exit points of each program area.
  • Full refunds will be provided to all participants if programs are required to be cancelled at short notice.

Mind 'Craft' Madness

Monday 12 April

The Mawson Centre

10am to 11am

Ages: 5 - 10 years

Cost: $5

Join MOVEIT Fitness and Programs and enter through the Nether Portal into Minecraft Madness! Use your creation skills and imagination to create, search and play all things Mindcraft without the video console. Craft and activity workshop. Bookings essential. Parental participation encouraged.

Ages: 5 and up

Cost: FREE

Join us in the Community Garden for a morning of craft and gardening. Decorate your own pot plant, then choose a seedling to take home. Make sure you wear your old gardening clothes because it might get messy!

Visit the new Community Garden at the Para Hills Community Hub and create a mosaic stepping stone. You can take it for your garden at home or leave your special piece of artwork in the community garden for everyone to admire! Get into Coding with ScratchJr

Wednesday 14 April

Ages: 5 - 7 years

Cost: $5

ScratchJr is a great introduction to one of the most popular programming languages for young people. It's also a great way to learn Scratch, one of the most popular coding tools used in primary schools. Come along to complete some coding activities and see how ScratchJr can teach the fundamentals of coding skills. No coding experience is required, but each child will need an adult attending to assist them with the coding activities. ScratchJr is freely available for Android and Apple tablets and introduces some of the key elements of block based coding. We recommend that if you have a tablet you bring it along with Scratch Jr downloaded.

Making Video Games

Everyone loves playing video games, so imagine how great it would be to be able to make your own! Come along for a fun event In this session you'll learn how to make several different styles of games. You'll explore how to make games easier or harder and then have the chance to play your creation.

Beading with Bee

Join Bee Loko (owner of Chaya boutique) for a unique African beading experience. Participants will learn the art and cultural of South African beading techniques and teachings while engaging through storytelling and bonding. Suitable for children. Bookings essential.

SA Rocks

Have you heard of SA Rocks? Join the craze that the whole family can be a part of. MOVEIT Fitness and Programs will help you design, colour, paint and write your own message on the rock to hide anywhere you wish! Go searching for other SA Rocks at local parks, trails and bushwalks and start swapping what you find or move it to another location so others can join in with the game. This fun can go on forever. Oh Yuck! Sensory Play

Friday 16 April

Ages: 3 - 10 years

Cost: $5

Sensory Play to the Extreme! Touch, see and smell Giant Goop, Cloud Sand and various types of slime while also making your very own sensory craft to take home. Let MOVEIT Fitness and Programs clean up the mess! Outdoor messy play, a change of clothes and suitable sun smart clothing will be essential. Bookings essential and parental participation is essential.

Pico and the Golden Lagoon Puppet Show

Monday 19 April

Salisbury Community Hub

Ages: 4 - 9 years old

Cost: $5 per child or $15 for a family ticket (4 tickets)

Watch and enjoy this amazing performance. Clever puppetry and wonderful sites for children young and old!

Pico is a world traveller who flies around in a yellow bi-plane. Join Pico and friends in the story of the golden lagoon and be introduced to new eco ideas and innovations through the characters of the story. Bookings essential, children must have an accompanying adult.

Presented by SPLASH THEATRE COMPANY & ME ’N ME MATES. This performance features Australian songs designed to keep young audiences engaged with interactive involvement - plus a selection of Australian bush poetry.
