The purpose of Refugee Week is to create a platform for education, understanding, celebration and reflection. This is supported by the Council’s Intercultural Strategic Plan 2017-2027 and internal Diversity and Inclusion Policy.  In 2016, City of Salisbury became a Refugee Welcome Zone and recent data shows that approximately 60% of refugees entering South Australia are calling the City of Salisbury home. Refugee Week includes Refugee Day 20 June and this year’s theme is unity.
