The Para Hills Seniors Centre (PHSC) is a friendly leisure centre situated at the new Para Hills Community Hub.

The centre offers a unique blend of programs, activities and services for older people on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Para Hills Club is a social support group for frail, older people available on Fridays. The program includes interesting activities, guest speakers, morning tea and lunch.

Dine-in and takeaway meals are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Getting there

The Para Hills Centre is located within the Para Hills Community Hub. A number of bus routes service the surrounding area. A car park is available for use. For further details and current timetable please visit the Adelaide Metro website.

What's on at the Para Hills Seniors Centre

The Para Hills Seniors Centre offers a range of programs through its Community or Seniors days and other activities hosted by external hirers.

Fridays

Seniors Day - catering for isolated and frail older people (entry criteria applies).

The all day program is $13 subsidised or $25 non-subsidised.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged 50+

Hills Meals Services

Fresh dine-in meals are available to purchase Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Please pre-order by 11am by calling 8406 8587. View the menu here.

Frozen meals are available from Monday to Friday during business hours. You can also call the centre on 8406 8587 a couple of days to pre-order from the menu specials located on the Jack Young Centre page

Membership

A membership fee applies to attend programs at the centre. The Membership period aligns with the financial year July - June each year. Membership gives you access to our programs at any of our three Over 50's leisure centres.

  • Jack Young Centre (JYC) - Orange Ave, Salisbury
  • Pine Lakes Centre - 16 Homestead Place, Parafield Gardens.

Our staff can also give you information about help at home through Home Assist and the Housing Support Program. This may include support with cleaning, shopping, home maintenance and modifications, gardening, social trips and transport.

Membership can be obtained by visiting the Para Hills Seniors Centre or the Jack Young Centre and completing the appropriate form. Please note that you don't have to be a member to come in for meals that are open to the public on a Tuesday or a Thursday. Pre-ordering required. Please ring 8406 8587 before 11 am and meals served promptly at 12 noon.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

This facility is temporarily closed as part of Council’s response and government requirements in relation to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Essential services will continue to be provided to support our seniors community. These include:

  • The Jack Young Centre (JYC)  will be open for the provision of takeaway meals including fresh and frozen soups, main meals and desserts. Please contact 8406 8525 to arrange your order prior to 11.30am.
  • Home Assist will continue to provide the following essential services. Contact 8406 8225 for more information.
    • Essential domestic assistance and transport to essential medical appointments
    • Urgent home modifications and maintenance to ensure the health and safety of clients
  • Virtual social support activities (phone calls and online programs)
  • Assistance with crisis housing supports for older people who qualify for the Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance (ACHA) program
