2018 MEN’S HEALTH LUNCHEON for blokes over 50

Celebrating Men’s Health Week 11 to 17 June 2018

“Men and Families – Making Healthy Connections

This explores the different ways families support the health and wellbeing of men and boys, and the positive contributions men and boys make to their families.

Please join us for a 3 course luncheon, guest speakers, entertainment and door prizes.



Displays and information on keeping healthy & connected in Salisbury.

10.30am to 1.30pm

Health checks available by Uni SA - Allied Health Van (blood pressure and diabetes risk assessments).

11.30am to 12 noon

Guest Speaker – Bruce Stocks from Northern Health Network, ‘Healthy Nuts’.

Bruce will talk to us about men and mental wellbeing. There are many stresses and dilemmas that men face, impacting negatively on our mental health. We’ll consider some of the things that keep us in a good mental health. We’ll hear some stories, think about some issues, and hopefully have a laugh together. Bruce is willing to discuss questions that you might have  about men and mental health.

Special Guest Speaker – Kim Syrus

Executive Producer and Host of Channel 9s lifestyle show Outdoors Indoors, ‘Sliding Doors’.

Kim Syrus wears many media gardening hats! He is the Executive Producer and Host on South Australia’s very own lifestyle show, Outdoors Indoors, on Channel 9. He has been the face of gardening on the popular television programmes In the Garden & The Garden Gurus and has also spent many years visiting gardens and interesting places as a presenter on the award winning travel programme Gurus Explore. A qualified horticulturist, he has owned and operated both a commercial rose nursery and garden centre in the picturesque town of Myponga and is one of Australia’s most respected rose experts. Kim Syrus has written articles for many magazines, including Garden Gurus magazine. Kim will share his life of ‘Sliding Doors’ moments from gardening to media and more. Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses...

1.30pm to 2.30pm

Entertainment - Gerry O Comic Impersonator.

Gerry O uses his fabulous vocal impersonations for guest appearances on radio in most states in Australia. He’s the winner of “the most unusual talent in Adelaide” for his comic impersonations of famous celebrities including Tina Turner, John Farnham, and Kermit the Frog!
