Streetscape Renewal Program
The City of Salisbury's ongoing Streetscape Renewal Program has been determined by a city-wide audit of the 80,000 street trees across the city area. The Streetscape Renewal Program redevelops whole streets within Council that have a high number of unsuitable trees specimens, such as those which are inappropriately planted beneath power lines, under attack by disease, and those which are dead or dying. The program extends to include streets with few or no existing street trees. In new developments where funds have been received from developers in lieu of undertaking works themselves, trees are planted once the majority of construction has been completed.
Streetscape Renewal is a lengthy process, with consultation occurring within the 12 months before existing trees are removed and new trees are planted.
Please see the Program pages below for details of the two programs currently being run.
