First opened in 1988, the Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre has grown in stature and now features more than 360 teams participating in eight different recreational activities.

The centre is the ideal venue to host district, state and national sporting competitions and events, catering for a diverse range of activities. It features an Olympic sized air conditioned stadium comprising three full size indoor sports courts and a large multi-purpose activity area.

Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre provides a broad range of programs and activities. Programs range from mass participant sports such as; netball, basketball and futsal, through to Kindygym, school holiday programs, special events and more.

Child Protection information

As of January 1, 2013 the City of Salisbury Recreation Services is obligated to align with the Children’s Protection Act 1993 whereby any person(s) that hold any of the positions listed below are required to obtain a police clearance regardless of whether they are exempt under the legislation.

Junior sporting team coaches/assistant coaches

  • Junior sporting team contact person/team manager

  • Contact person for hire groups who provide activity to junior persons

  • Coaches/Instructors for hire groups who provide activity to junior persons

Please Note:  

 

Only Teams who have a person deemed suitable to work with children listed on their nomination form will be accepted into the Junior Program

  • Only Teams who have a person deemed suitable to work with children listed on their nomination form will be allocated a Training Space

  • The cost of undertaking the Police Check and Criminal History Assessment is zero through City of Salisbury’s Recreation Services affiliations with Netball & Basketball SA

  • This is an ongoing process, the criminal history assessment will be valid for three years.

  • The process will need to be repeated for each individual every three years.

Court Sports:

The Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre offers a variety of activities for all ages.

Activities offered include Netball, Basketball, Futsal (Soccer), Kindigym, Aussie Hoops, Table Tennis and Strength for life.

Basketball

Mens & Social Mixed Basketball

Individuals and Teams are welcome to participate.

Games are played:

Mens Competition- Tuesday evenings with the games commencing from 6.15pm and the last game commencing at 10.00pm.

Social Mixed Competition- Sunday evenings with the games commencing from 6.15pm and the last game commencing at 10.00pm

Junior Mixed Basketball

Come along and join in our Junior Basketball Competition. Teams and individuals are welcome to participate in this competition.

Games are played Sundays; commencing from 9.30am

Competition groups are as follows: 

   Under 8's  Under 10's  Under 12's  Under 14's Under 16's   Under 18's
 Sundays 
9:30am - 12:00pm 9:30am - 1:00pm 9:30am - 2:00pm 9:30am - 2:00pm 12:30pm - 2:00pm 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Eligibility to play in respective age groups is determined on the basis that the player must be under the prescribed age on 1st January in the year that they wish to participate. Example – A player wishing to play in the under 10 competition must not be 10 years or over prior to the 1st January of the year in which they wish to play.

Aussie Hoops

The City of Salisbury and Basketball SA are giving children between the ages of 5 and 12 years the opportunity to participate in the Aussie Hoops Basketball Program.

Aussie Hoops is an introductory program coordinated by Basketball SA Development Officers giving young children a fun taste of what basketball is all about. Your child will have the opportunity to learn some skills of the game in a non-competitive environment whilst having fun.

Time: 4:00pm - 5:00pm Wednesday afternoons during school terms

Term Fee: $45 for whole term or $5 per week (payable at reception)

* Aussie Hoops Registration Fee will commence in January 2014

Registration Fee*: $25.00 per year (includes Aussie Hoops pack)

Netball

Ladies Netball

Both teams and individuals are welcome.

Games are played;

Games are played Tuesdays with the games commencing from 9.30am.

Junior Netball

Net Skills! is an introductory program coordinated by accredited coaches giving young children a fun taste of what netball is all about. Your child will have the opportunity to develop skills in a non-competitive environment whilst having fun.

This five-a-side indoor senior soccer competition is open to male and female teams, as well as mixed!

Kick Start Futsal

The City of Salisbury are giving children between the ages of 5 and 12 years the opportunity to participate in the Kick Start Futsal Program.

Kick Start Futsal is an introductory program giving young children a fun taste of what Futsal is all about. Your child will have the opportunity to learn some skills of the game in a non-competitive environment whilst having fun.

Time: 5:00pm to 6:00pm Monday afternoons during school terms

Registration Fee: $45 for whole term or $5 per week (payable at reception)

Casual Basketball Shooting

(Outside of competition times)

The courts are available for casual basketball shooting for $5.00 per person per hour for a maximum of 4 people (if more than 4 people court hire applies).

Kindigym

Kindigym is a movement based program that encourages children aged 1 to 5 years to grow and develop through play in a fun, colourful and stimulating environment with the encouragement and supervision of their parent/carer.

Cost per session is $5.00 for the first child and $4.00 for siblings.

A 10-session pass is valid for 6 months and costs $45 for the first child and $35 for siblings.

The registration fee of $5 per child is payable each term.

Clinics offered include Netball, Basketball, Futsal. The clinics provide school holiday fun whilst offering exercise and skill development to participants.

Active Kidz

COMING SOON!

Active Kidz is a new and exciting program  for children aged 3-6 years.

The program will run during school terms teaching fundamental motor skills and modified sports programs.

Strength for life

Strength for Life promotes health and wellbeing amongst people over 50 through strength training programs run by accredited fitness providers. You will have a pre-screening procedure and have your own program designed for you to ensure that you are doing a strength program that suits your own needs and abilities. Strength training can alleviate the effects of chronic conditions such as Arthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Osteoporosis and Heart Disease.

Program Times: Monday 10.15-11.15am & Thursday 11.15-12.15pm

Cost: Once off fee of $25 for an individual exercise program then only $6 per session.

Life Ball

If you are looking for a way to get active, stay healthy and meet new friends, try Lifeball!

Lifeball is a fun, walking team game suitable for all ages. It is a thinking game designed for skill, fun and fitness. Lifeball improves balance, coordination, flexibility and mobility. It encourages interaction by creating team spirit. As a participant you will improve your fitness levels, have social interaction while exercising in a friendly and safe environment.

Program Times: Thursdays 11.30am - 12.30pm

Cost: $4 per session

Martial Arts

Grandmaster Leong’s Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy

Tuition in three traditional Wing Chun styles. Learn realistic street self defence within a relaxed & friendly environment.

Only available for students over the age of 12 years

Classes are held on Thursdays from 7.30pm till 9pm (Closed on public holidays)

Cost:

$40 per month

Membership fee: $110 per year

 

Table Tennis Club

 The P.G.T.T.C. operate out of the Gardens Recreation Centre. Catering for beginners to advanced level players; Their programs include a social competition and juniors nights run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Over 50’s Table Tennis

The Over 50’s Table Tennis group play twice per week here at the Gardens Recreation Centre.

Games are played on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9.00am—12noon.

Annual Event: Salisbury Craft & Hobby Fair

The centre opens its doors over the June long weekend for this popular fair, which features more than 150 indoor stalls. Open: Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
