Home and community help
Salisbury Home Support Services provides basic home maintenance and support services to help people remain living independently in their own home.
The program is jointly funded by the Home and Community Care Program (a Commonwealth and State Government Project) and the City of Salisbury.
Who does the program assist?
Salisbury residents eligible for the services include:
- Aged and frail people with moderate, severe or profound disabilities
- Young people with moderate, severe or profound disabilities
- Carers of people in the above two groups
Individuals do not qualify for these services solely on the grounds of advanced age.
What support is available?
A wide range of services are available to support people to remain living independently in their own home, for example:
- Minor home maintenance
- Minor home safety modifications, such as installation of handrails
- Short term cleaning assistance while recovering from an illness or surgery
- Single cleaning services to support ongoing maintenance of the home
- Support with shopping, social interaction and transport
- Information on services and activities in the region
The provision of these services depends on available resources.
How much does it cost?
Subsidised fees apply for services and for the cost of materials.
How to apply?
The first step in receiving assistance is an assessment to determine eligibility and the need for services . This assessment will occur in consultation with the applicant and their carer, if applicable.
Individuals can apply directly or carers and other third parties can refer applicants.
