The Salisbury Swimming Centre is part of the Salisbury Recreation Precinct (SRP) at Happy Home Reserve (Waterloo Cnr Rd).

It is now open again until April 2019. Why not get into the ‘swim of things’ this Summer, just like Kerry and Marg.

Here is what Kerry and Marg have to say about why they swim at the SRP:

‘We enjoy our time at the Salisbury Swimming Pool as a swim is a great way to start the day. It is an extremely good way to exercise with minimal strain on joints.

We feel that regular exercise is important as we age and at the Salisbury Pool you can swim or exercise in the water at your own pace without the pressure of having to keep up in a class atmosphere. It is nice to swim with like-minded people, there are no age barriers.

The surroundings & atmosphere at the pool are pleasant & well maintained.’

Why swim?

Swimming is a great workout because you need to move your whole body against the resistance of the water.

Swimming is a good all-round activity because it:

  • keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body

  • builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness

  • helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs

  • tones muscles and builds strength

  • provides an all-over body workout, as nearly all of your muscles are used during swimming. Fun fact: 44 is the number of muscles you engage during a freestyle swim.
