The ‘wheels keep turning’ - 1,000 individual rides in 12 months

The Cycle Salisbury Social Rides reached two milestones in September. The local program which aims to get ‘more bottoms on bikes more often’, turned 6 and celebrated reaching a fantastic milestone!

In its 6th year, the Cycle Salisbury Social Rides program provided 110 opportunities in the last twelve months (Sept – Aug) for locals and others to join a ride, and achieved a new participation record of just over 1,000 individual rides for the twelve month period (the previous best was 846 in 2016/17).

The Cycle Salisbury Social Rides program provides opportunities for adults (and accompanied children) to join a suitable ability ride along the many wonderful trails we have in Salisbury and further afield. (from 5 – 35km).

A BIG thank you to all our Bike SA volunteer ride leaders (Elaine, Des, Mark, Nigel, Bryce, Julian & Jim) for their dedication & work in making this a successful and long running program.

We are so lucky in having over 80km of trails and paths in Salisbury, including along the Little Para River and Dry Creek trails and Cobbler Creek. Find out more at www.salisbury.sa.gov.au/Play/Walking_and_Cycling_Trails

Coming soon is an additional 17 km of trail along the new Northern Connector, which will allow you to walk or ride from Salisbury or Mawson Lakes to Gawler all off road (along the northern Connector and Stuart O’Grady bike path).

So if you have any kind of bike (particularly a hybrid or mountain-bike as a lot of our time is spent off-road on the trails and paths) why not come and join us, we would love to show you where you can ride.
