Work Experience (Schools)

Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre is committed to providing opportunities for young people to undertake work experience during years 10, 11 and 12.

Generally, we aim to host work experience for young people interested in employment in the youth and community sectors or in general administration.

Unfortunately, we can not accommodate all of the requests for work experience that we receive.

The first step is to either ring the centre on 8406 8555 or alternatively email rhenke@salisbury.sa.gov.au. All work experience requires prior completion of your schools approved work experience form which confirms your insurance cover. All work experience students will need to come to a short meeting at least a week prior to commencing the placement.

Full time secondary students do not need to provide a police check.

If Twelve25 can't accommodate your request directly it may be possible to apply to the City of Salisbury's Organisational Development Department for other areas of council.

Tertiary Placement (TAFE and University)

Placements at Twelve25 for University and TAFE students are limited to the following types of courses:

  • Youth Work Certificate 3
  • Youth Work Certificate 4
  • Diploma of Youth Work
  • Social Work Degree

Please note that Twelve25 has no one-to-one case management or counselling type experience.

To register your interest, all we ask is you select the qualification you would like to study and then answer a few background questions to help us know you and why you are wanting to work in this field.

When registering please note that this is not a guarantee that you will receive a spot as a placement student within our organisation, it is only an expression of interest.

Please note when considering applications, we will use this as a reference list and will not be following application order (e.g. the order you registered). This will enable us to match the student to our work environment.

If you are not able to register your expression of interest this indicates our limit has been reached. We would advise continuing to look for other placement options in the meantime and keep checking the placement expression of interest vacancies.

Part of our Centre's internal processes for ensuring that the placements are of value is to have all students undertake a student project over the term of the placement.

The project can be of the students own choice (and should be a topic where the student has a strong passion or interest), but must be discussed and approved with the Centre Manager prior to commencement.

All students on placement are expected to undertake all the roles in the Centre, which includes administration, venue support roles, as well as program based roles.

Most approved placements are structured over a period of either one or two days per week.

All tertiary placements need to have: completed tertiary placement forms, supplied a satisfactory Child Related DCSI and National Police Check, and preferably (but not essentially) have undertaken some ‘Child Safe Environment' and ‘First Aid' training.

The first step is to register your Expression of Interest, then email rhenke@salisbury.sa.gov.au and call the Centre on 8406 8555

All students will need to meet with a staff representative before a placement will be accepted.
