Parents Supporting Sport

Every Friday 5.30pm to 7.00pm (10 weeks)

Participating in sport has lots of benefits for children including developing fitness, friendships, communication and team work skills. As a parent/caregiver, how can you best support your child's successful involvement in sport?

This FREE program has been designed in collaboration with the Salisbury United FC to understand how to actively support your child in sport but also has applicability in other aspects of life such as workplace, volunteering and study.

Part 1 - Communication (five weeks)

  • Understanding the expectations and responsibilities of parents, children and sporting organisations
  • Being assertive - Tips for communicating and various communication methods
  • Time management skills
  • Volunteering

Part 2 - Digital Literacy (five weeks)

  • Accessing websites for relevant information
  • Completing online applications and other personal information
  • Using technology to organise daily tasks
  • Smart phone apps
  • Using maps

The Participants will be enrolled in the unit FSKOCM02 from the Foundation Skills Package through TAFE SA.
