Resources for Schools and Teachers

The Salisbury Libraries work with schools, teachers and students across the community, assisting with access, membership and resources.

Teachers

Teachers can apply for a special membership that allows items to be borrowed for a full school term. You can download and print the teacher membership form and return it completed to the library in person or via fax 8406 8259. A card will then be posted to the school.

Child Care, Kindergarten, Junior and Primary Classes

Teachers can request a range of services and programs resources for their classes. These include:

  • A tour within the library that helps promote a love of reading as well as building literacy skills
  • Bulk loans of books to support classroom learning and projects. Teachers can request items on a range of topics each term. The library will locate a number of items to match the request and contact the teacher when all items are ready for collection.
  • The Community Learning Program Team engaging hundreds of junior classes in exciting literature focussed programs during Book Week at the various library branches.

 Secondary Classes

  • Bulk loans of books to support classroom learning and projects. The library will locate a number of items to match the request and contact the teacher when all items are ready for collection.
  • Introducing students to the library during an arranged visit where staff will demonstrate the benefits of the library for both recreation and learning. These sessions are fun and include activities to ensure that everyone listens.
  • Specialised library staff demonstrating the basic use of the online resources available through the library as part of the information technology literacy skills essential for students to successfully complete SACE.  Sessions are designed to be engaging to maintain the interest of the students.

Membership for all students can be arranged between the library and the school without parents being present. Teachers can download the student membership form to send home to parents, then return the completed forms to the library. Library cards will then be posted to the school, or given to students during an arranged visit to the library
