Supplementary Election – Levels Ward

Due to the resignation of a member of the Council, a supplementary election will be necessary to fill the vacancy of Councillor for Levels Ward.

The voters roll for this supplementary election will close at 5.00pm on Tuesday 28 February 2017.

The Local Government (Elections) Act 1999 delegates to the Chief Executive Officer the responsibility of maintaining the voters roll for all Council elections.

You are entitled to vote in the election if you are on the State electoral roll.  If you have recently turned 18 or changed your residential or postal address you must complete an electoral enrolment form, available from post offices or online at

If you are not eligible to enrol on the State electoral roll, you may still be entitled to enrol to vote if you own or occupy property within the Levels Ward. 

To activate this entitlement you are required to register on the Council Supplementary Voters Roll – Levels Ward. There are three enrolment forms that are relevant, one for each category (natural person; bodies corporate or group).

The following criteria apply:

  • any person completing a form must be of the age of 18 years or over to apply;
  • groups or bodies corporate must nominate a person to vote on their behalf;
  • an elector can only vote once for a Ward election;
  • you do not need to be an Australian Citizen to vote in a council election if you qualify for enrolment on the council supplementary roll.

Enrolment Forms must be completed, witnessed and returned by close of roll, 5.00pm Tuesday 28 February 2017 for you to be able to vote.

Nominations to fill the vacancy will open on Thursday 23 March 2017 and will be received until 12 noon on Thursday 6 April 2017.  Further information about nominating will be available closer to the opening date.

The election will be conducted entirely by post with the return of ballot material to reach the Returning Officer no later than 12 noon on Monday 8 May 2017 and results available early June 2017.
