Salisbury Plays transforms Mawson Lakes

More than 3,000 people took part in Salisbury Plays at Mawson Lakes on Sunday, 14 April. Mawson Lakes Boulevard was transformed into a family-friendly centre, bustling with free sports, games, jumping castles, face-painting, live performances and local stalls.

Salisbury Plays is an initiative of the City of Salisbury to encourage residents to make the most of local parks and reserves.

One of the highlights of the day was the Catch-A-Carp Fishing Competition. 601 keen anglers registered for the event, which carried four major prizes. Prize winners were:

  • Heaviest carp, weighing 6.5kg - Deborah Drews
  • Second prize, weighing 4.5kg -  Oliver Hastwell
  • Third prize, weighing 4kg – Brian Yates
  • Fourth prize weighing 3.5kg- Adam Klokocka

The fishing competition was a joint City of Salisbury and Game Fishing Club of South Australia event. Winners also received a $50 food voucher from either Nik’s BBQ restaurant on Mawson Lakes Boulevard or the Mawson Lakes Chicken and Seafood restaurant.

The winner of the lucky door prize was Amelia Perre who won a $100 Romeo’s Foodland Voucher, donated by Cr Beau Brug and Cr Lisa Braun who are the councillors for West Ward (which includes Mawson Lakes).
