#PressforProgress: International Women’s Day Breakfast 2018

Mayor Gillian Aldridge will again be hosting the City of Salisbury’s International Women’s Day breakfast, on Thursday 8 March at the Parafield Gardens Community Club.

City of Salisbury Mayor Aldridge said this year’s theme for International Women’s Day 2018 is #PressforProgress.

“The City of Salisbury Council strongly encourage individuals and businesses to #PressforProgress  by driving positive change and equality for women in our community”, said Mayor Aldridge

Three guest speakers at the breakfast will be discussing how collective action and shared responsibility can continue the momentum in driving gender equality.

Guest speakers at the breakfast are: 

Dr Eva Balan-Vnuk– Executive Director, ICT and Digital Government

Dr Eva Balan-Vnuk has just joined South Australia Government as Executive Director, ICT and Digital Government, after an international and local career with Microsoft. She was most recently State Director for Microsoft in South Australia, and one of the first women Chiefs for Gender Equity, a group of senior business leaders in South Australia convened by the Equal Opportunity Commissioner. Eva believes that it is people who solve problems not technology, that adopting a growth mindset can change an organisation’s culture, and she operates with a strong bias for action. Eva is also founder and convener of HerTechPath, a community of women working in the technology sector who provide briefings to high schools, targeting girls, to be visible role models and share the diversity of opportunities available in the technology sector. 

Louise Nobes– CEO KIK

Louise is an award winning social entrepreneur, founder & CEO with a 15 year background in social work and business. Louise is highly recognized for her ability to work with disadvantaged young people and to inspire them to create their own solutions out of poverty. To achieve this Louise created KIK, which is a brand led company, creates jobs through co-designing business solutions with young people. Since August 2016 KIK has opened 3 coffee stores across Adelaide and is now expanding into retail and commercial gardening and cleaning services. Led from the top KIK inspires a culture of curiosity, disruption and purpose.

Sarah Greig– CEO Vixen Painting

Sarah is a multi-award winning Master painter/decorator, and single mother. Sarah began Vixen Painting and Decorating 3 years ago with minus $7 in her account she has grown the business into the success it is today. Vixen Painting and Decorating specialises in residential, commercial and heritage restoration painting. With her success linked closely to her previous qualifications in the animal industry, Sarah secured the contract to paint the Adelaide Zoo. Sarah is the youngest person and only woman to be nominated for an award at the Master Painters Awards and has won multiple awards in many different categories in consecutive years. Priding herself on encouraging young people and women to succeed in her industry, she hopes to grow and achieve much more in the future.
