To celebrate the newly completed Para Hills Community Hub, an Open Day will be held between 11am – 3pm on Saturday 11 August 2018.

This free event is a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to experience some of the innovative programs that will be held at the Para Hills Community Hub as well as see first-hand the exciting new building.

The day will feature fun-filled activities such as Lego Mindstorm robotics, virtual reality simulators, karate displays, come and try chess and music performances. There will also be a toy collection, photo booth, face painting and story time with the Mayor. Free food will also be available at the Open Day, such as cupcakes, fruit, and a barbecue with sausages and vegetarian patties.

City of Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge, OAM, said the Para Hills Community Hub was a “thrilling” development.

“This wonderful new facility is a key initiative in fulfilling Council’s vision of enhanced service diversity,” Mayor Aldridge said.

“The Para Hills Community Hub will allow residents to connect with others in a fresh and modern space and will meet the needs of the community for many years to come.

“I am so excited to welcome everyone to the Open Day to truly experience the fantastic initiatives we have on offer to the community.”

The new Para Hills Community Hub is designed to serve the growing needs of the whole community including local residents, schools and businesses. It will host the existing library and seniors centre as well as The Paddocks Centre which will relocate to the new hub in August 2018 and continue to provide community programs and events for people of all ages.

The new extension will also see an increased offering of programs and events for people of all ages, covering a wide range of topics such as:

  • Health, fitness and wellbeing
  • Adult vocational learning
  • STEM-based robotics and LEGO
  • Early years learning and literacy
  • Digital literacy
  • Programs for seniors
  • Creative arts and crafts

The project stayed on schedule during the entire construction. The extension has seamlessly integrated into the existing facility and includes multifunction meeting rooms, community activity rooms, commercial kitchen facilities and outdoor spaces with seating.
