This year will see a new chapter for the popular Salisbury Writers’ Festival. For the first time, the festival will include two different streams for attendees to choose from – a creative writing stream and a business writing stream.

The Salisbury Writers’ Festival is hosted by the City of Salisbury in partnership with Writers SA. The festival has featured an array of prominent guest speakers in previous years, including former Prime Minister Julia Gillard and John Marsden, author of the bestselling Tomorrow, When the War Began series.

Attendees at the 2018 Salisbury Writers’ Festival can opt to focus on creative or business topics, or switch between the two streams, with one ticket price for all attendees. In addition, this year’s festival will be held over a weekend (Friday 24 August to Sunday 26 August), rather than across a whole week as in previous years.

Jessica Alice, Director of Writers SA, said the program has been designed to be engaging and accessible.

"We look forward to welcoming new and returning audiences who seek inspiration in their artistic and working lives," Ms Alice said. "This festival is a wonderful opportunity for creative professional development."

City of Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge, OAM, said Salisbury was a “highly creative” community. “The City of Salisbury is proud to support this fabulous annual festival,” Mayor Aldridge said. “Events such as the Salisbury Writers’ Festival foster local talent and creativity, as well as community engagement.”

“The new business writing stream will be an exciting way to boost local business expertise, further cementing Salisbury’s reputation as a pro-business city.”

More information is available on the Discover Salisbury website, where you can purchase tickets to the Festival.
