The City of Salisbury will commemorate the Australian servicemen and women deployed during the Vietnam War at its annual ceremony for Vietnam Veterans Day.

The special service will be held at Henderson Square in Montague Farm Estate, starting at 11 am on Saturday 18 August 2018 - the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.

Montague Farm Estate is dedicated to all Australians who served in the Vietnam War. Fifty-eight South Australian personnel died during the conflict, and the streets and parks around the Estate are named in their honour.

City of Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge, OAM, said the public was invited to attend the ceremony, along with Vietnam War veterans and their loved ones.

“The annual Vietnam Veterans Day service at Montague Farm Estate is always a poignant event,” Mayor Aldridge said.

“The ceremony will commemorate the thousands of Australians who served in the Vietnam War, during the decade spanning from 1962 until 1972.”

“It is an opportunity to reflect upon their courage, to remember those who have died, and to provide support to the veterans who are still with us.”
