Celebrating Australia Day in the Salisbury Community Hub

A free breakfast, children’s rides and a lunchtime moving screening are among the festivities planned to commemorate Australia Day on Sunday 26 January 2020 at the Salisbury Community Hub and surrounding Salisbury Civic Plaza/ Inparrinthi Kumangka.

A flag raising ceremony will take place at 8am, Australia Day Awards will be presented at 9am and a citizenship ceremony will take place at 10am.

A free breakfast of bacon and eggs or yoghurt and fresh fruit is being served by 1st Salisbury Scout Group from 8am.

A live performance from Adelaide music pair Pulse Duo, which plays a variety of music from the sixties to current top 40 hits, will take place on stage outside the Hub.

Children will have the opportunity to enjoy free rides including a merry-go-round and jumping castle, with other activities including face painting, a mini golf course, table tennis and giant games, henna and a balloon artist, sand art and more.

Community members are also encouraged to stick around to watch the classic family film Babe, which will be shown on the big screen at lunchtime.

Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM said she looked forward to celebrating the sense of community that makes the City of Salisbury a great place to live.

“Our Australia Day celebrations offer us an important time to come together as a community and celebrate those who have achieved great things in our community, welcome our new citizens and enjoy spending time with family and friends,” she said.
