Draft Footpath Trading Policy

Council has recently reviewed the Footpath Trading Policy and has endorsed the Draft Footpath Trading Policy for public consultation. A copy of the policy can be found at www.salisbury.sa.gov.au/footpathtrading.

The draft policy is open for public consultation and Council is seeking feedback before making a final decision on the policy.

A copy of the report, Item 3.3.2, Footpath Trading Policy Review, presented to the Resources and Governance Committee on 18 June 2018 detailing the changes to the policy can be found here.

Major Changes In The Policy

The major changes in the policy are highlighted below with some specific questions posed for each area on the online form that follows. The major changes include:

  • Safety Barriers – reviewing options for payment and cost recovery
  • Moveable Items – requiring all items footpath trading items to be removable
  • Noise – undertaking compulsory consultation if foot path trading is within 50m metres to a residential area
  • Smoking – banning alternate forms of smoking such as sheesha’s and considering banning smoking on all footpaths
  • Fees – using the size of the trading area to calculate permit fees and bollard costs

Council welcomes your feedback on each of these along with any general feedback on the remainder of the policy.
