Community Events Sponsorship

The Purpose of the Program

The City of Salisbury through its Community Events Sponsorship Program, aims to encourage, develop and support the organisation of community events within the City, this will include one-off celebrations that generate community participation i.e. Christmas Carols or Fetes. Applications are invited from any non-profit organisation that is planning to hold events within the City.
Funding will be considered for costs directly incurred in the organisation of an event, for example general revenue, infrastructure, publicity and advertising and security.
Community groups/organisations may run more than one event per financial year, however the maximum sponsorship is $1,000 per community group/organisation per financial year.

Insurance

The event organiser must have Public Liability Insurance to the value of $10 million. This amount is an industry standard of general cover based on the risk involved. A copy of a current certificate of currency for this cover must be included with the application.

Who is Eligible?

Local community groups and organisations that are incorporated and/or auspiced by an incorporated body.

To be considered for funding the City of Salisbury also requires information on your GST status. Your application should indicate whether you are registered for GST or not.

If your business is registered, when applying for funding, consideration should be made in relation to the amount required. All funding applications must be GST inclusive. You must also identify the GST component of the grant requested. If you are registered for GST, a tax invoice will be required and this must be made to the City of Salisbury. Payment will only be issued on receipt of an invoice. If you are not registered for GST, to facilitate payment, an invoice for the funding amount will still be required.

Every attempt will be made to distribute funds equitably across the City.

Ineligible?

Funding will not be provided for the following:

  • money already spent
  • retrospective funding or funding of budget deficits
  • salaries/tutor fees (initial or ongoing)
  • commercial activities aimed at making private profit

  • individuals or unincorporated groups
  • events that are not held within the City of Salisbury area
  • groups/organisations that have previously received funding and not fulfilled reporting obligations, including provision of, post event evaluation/report and financial acquittal

If you have ticked yes to any of the above, your event is ineligible for funding.

You are required to demonstrate in your application that the event will meet the following criteria:

  • adds to the community and cultural life of the City of Salisbury as outlined by the City's Cultural Strategy
  • can you show broad community support and/or involvement in event, e.g. (90 per cent of the target population must reside in Salisbury)
  • will your event attract local media coverage?

  • please note that the City of Salisbury's Community Events Sponsorship Program is very popular and meeting this criteria does not necessarily guarantee success due to funding limits
