Demographic breakdowns of the 2010 Census figures were not yet available as at this writing, so the following information is based on 2006 figures:

According to the 2006 Census* there were 2,046 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders residing in Salisbury, and 30,492 people were born overseas - approximately 26% of the then total population of 118,424.

Of the people born overseas, approximately 39% were from the United Kingdom or Ireland, 26% from other Europe, 23% from Asia, 3% from New Zealand or the South Pacific, 4% from the Middle East or Africa, and 3% from Canada or the United States.

Salisbury also has a high proportion of young people and a significant number of people aged over 60 years.
